First things first, could you tell us a little bit about yourself and what you do?
We’re Tori & Vicky and we jointly run The Boutique in Fulham! We’re a wedding shop with a difference offering the full package to our brides & grooms! We stock a range of small, independent wedding brands from bespoke wedding dresses, to bridesmaids dresses, shoes and suit hire! Whether you’re looking for flowers, cakes or stationary we have it all covered!
Independently Tori runs Tori Harris Makeup & Hair an elite team of hair and makeup artists who work on weddings worldwide. All of Tori’s hair and makeup trials take place exclusively at The Boutique. While here brides have the opportunity to try on hair accessories, veils and other jewellery and accessories from The Boutique co-founder Vicky of Victoria Millésime . All in a beautiful, relaxed, wedding environment.
What inspires you to push yourself creatively or further in business?
Our brides! We’re always looking out for the latest trends in the wedding industry and putting our own twist on them in our designs. In business we listen to our customers – we want to make the wedding planning experience as easy as possible for brides to be but also a fun and enjoyable experience – having everything under one beautiful roof offers both an experience and ease!
What does your daily routine look like?
Routine?! We have slightly more structure now but with any business it changes daily! We usually arrive at The Boutique just before 9AM and whoever arrives first will make the coffee’s! We usually start our day with a catch up (so much can happen over night!) a quick run through of our to do list and key tasks and then we get cracking. We’ll have a mixture of appointments and walk in brides throughout the rest of the day so lunch will be something healthy (usually leftovers) heated up in the kitchen and wolfed down while responding to emails but there’s no set time for this – sometimes it’s 11AM other days it’s 2PM! We work until 5PM but offer quite a lot of evening appointments, workshops and other events so will quite frequently be here later!
What’s your favourite memory from working in this field so far?
The day we got the keys to The Boutique! We’d been in the industry around 6-7 years each at this point working from home and on location so it was a huge milestone to have our own shop with an office and a coffee machine!! It was also the first time both of us had a business partner and someone to talk to in the industry so it was a great day for many reasons!
What advice would you give to couples to make the most of their wedding day?
Make the most of it!! Take a moment to just walk off just the two of you – no photographer – literally just the two of you! This day is going to go past so quickly and you need to make sure you have a moment just you and your new husband/wife. If there is somewhere you can sneakily look in on your wedding without being seen all the better – take a step back and admire your handiwork and the amazing wedding you have spent months planning!!
