Folllowing my Something Simply Special Sundays post on second shooting, this post includes photographs from a second shooting experience with a difference.
Inspired by The Image Is Found and this blog post in particular, MG and I decided that weddings I attend with him for 2012 will all involve a challenge. Second shooting is a great way to develop your eye and expertise without the pressure of it being your day so I utilise this as much as I can. Add a challenge on top of that and you’re on a new level, in my opinion.
This challenge was the first. The aim was to shoot with an 85mm all day and only include one person in the frame. Now, as you can imagine, this was difficult. More so than I imagined. One of the reasons that I shoot weddings and indeed am a photographer is to capture emotion between people, moments and love. I felt my challenge required me to look at it with solidarity in mind and it was uncomfortable to do so.
I can say that I did my best on this. There are a handful of images that aren’t in alignment with the task set but only because I adore bride and groom portraits and Dina & Steve looked so suave I just simply couldn’t miss them out….. ;)

Claudia these are awesome! Your challenge was a tough one, I don’t envy you.
It’s a great idea though, I might start setting myself little challenges with my shooting. What an excellent way to develop your skills and to get your eyes to look at a scene differently.
