unnamed-1 The Wedding Spotlight; Maggie Mowbray Millinery

The Wedding Spotlight // Maggie Mowbray Millinery

Today brings us another wonderful bank holiday, and another wedding supplier! Our Creative Manager came across Maggie’s work on Instagram and we fell in love with her modern bridal headpieces; I especially enjoy that she’s from my homeland of Scotland. A little birdie told me that we’ll be working together too on a styled shoot that a mutual friend is organising later in the year too!

First things first, could you tell us a little bit about yourself and what you do?

I am a milliner, which is a women hat designer and maker.  I live in Scotland with my husband, two teenage daughters and two dogs.  I started Maggie Mowbray Millinery in 2012 and now sell to clients all over the world!

What inspires you to push yourself creatively or further in business?

I hate standing still, I need to be making or feeling that I am making some kind of progression creatively.  I have moved to making seasonal collections from 2 to 4 collections, 6 if you include bridal, because I always have lots of ideas or skills I want to work on and consolidate.

What does your daily routine look like?

Drink coffee, nothing happens till that is accomplished!  Get school lunches ready and see my daughters off to school, then I usually go for a run with my dogs.  I’m usually back and started by 9am and I then work in my studio; answering emails, working on orders, creating new designs till around 4, then it’s back to being mum.  Most days I spend taking my daughters to various dance classes, cooking dinner etc.  Then often I catch up on a bit more work in the evening before watching some drama.  Most days follow that pattern, I love all of it!

What’s your favourite memory from working in this field so far?

I worked with Gok Wan recently, he was really positive about my designs, it’s great getting enthusiastic feedback on my work!

What advice would you give to couples to make the most of their wedding day?

Do it how you want it, it’s your day!
Thank you so much Maggie! You can find her work on TWITTER, INSTAGRAM, PINTEREST and FACEBOOK.
