Alex & Matt had a sweltering conservatory wedding in London; holding their ceremony at The Horniman Museum and then escorting their guests on a red London bus back to The Metro in Clapham for food, speeches in the garden and gin-fuelled dancing!
This wedding came to me as a recommendation from my good friend Matt Parry who has been a huge support throughout the years we’ve both been calling this our ‘career’. The enquiry hit my inbox and I suggested to the groom, Matt, that we connect over the phone at his earliest convenience.
I remember that I’d recently arrived at my hotel in Edinburgh in October 2018, ready for the wedding of two of my oldest friends the very next day. Matt called me and I stood in the window to get good signal, watching over the streets below of the city I most call home.
Matt and I hit it off straight away over a joint adoration of street photography and he explained that he and Alex would much rather images of their friends and family than any posed images of the two of them or stand-in-a-line formals. My style is solely focused towards telling the story of a wedding day, warts and all, although I did recommend to him that we spend 5 minutes getting some family shots to keep the parents happy.
I’m so thankful to work with couples who connect with what makes me inspired and Alex & Matt were just that.
Emails like this are the power behind my engine: “Am sitting with dad in his room at the nursing home. Nearly bawled my eyes out looking at the photos! So special, thank you so much xxx“
