I talk openly about the way that I interact with my couples and their guests on a wedding day. It isn’t for everyone. I’m over-familiar. Can be over-excitable. It may seem a little inappropriate at times, and yet I always have my brides saying to me ‘everyone’s been asking how long I’ve known you for; it just feels like you’re a good friend!’.
That’s all I want. I want people to relax around me. I want them to party with me and the trust that I’m not going to be asking them to do ridiculous poses all day long is so key to getting the photographs I do.
Sian & Mike’s London wedding was in May 2017 and I have then since gone on to document Mike’s brother’s elopement on the Isle of Harris and Sian’s Maid of Honour (Jesz)’s wedding in New Zealand.
Which is what I’m about to show you.
Jesz and I became friends on Facebook after Sian’s wedding and when she dropped me an email to ask if I’d be at all interested in flying to the other side of the world to be part of her wedding celebrations to Adam, my email back was in caps lock excitement.
New Zealand has been one of those places for me for a long while that seemed untouchable. It truly was everything that I wanted it to be. If you want to read more about our experience of spending the trip in a campervan then go HERE.
For now, this is about Jesz & Adam. They married at Ataahua Garden Venue, which is an absolute dream.
Shot on a Sony A7iii with 28mm and 85mm. Massive thank you to my love who picked up a camera for the second time ever and managed to get some proper bangin’ frames.
