I began my photography journey in 2005 through the music studio I had left school for. Over the next 5 years I dabbled in various different subjects matters, and mediums. It’s so magical to take a roll of film and then hide out in a dark bathroom stinking of chemicals before running the negatives through a film scanner and seeing your work then immortalised digitally. It’s really incredible what we have available to us in this day and age through the technological advances; and yet sometimes I can fall into being too digital. Too impatient.
For this reason I recently purchased a Mamiya 645 from the lovely Britt Spring Photography. I want to work on slowing down in my work and having only 16 exposures per roll of film really does make you stop and think about the reason you’re pressing the shutter on any specific image.
Here are a small selection of my first roll.
