Why Have Your Wedding Reception At Cherwell Boathouse?
Cherwell Boathouse, situated on the banks of the gorgeous river Cherwell in Oxford is the perfect place for a dreamy laid back wedding day.
The venue itself isn’t licensed for ceremonies but the nearby Oxford Town Hall has the most incredible light and capacity for different wedding guest-lists.
Enjoy a 15 minute bus ride through Oxford’s rich historic capital out to the leafy suburbs where you will be dropped off with a very short walk down to the river and the venue itself.
Cherwell Boathouse has four different ‘room’ options for you to choose from including the marquee (20-130 guests seated), restaurant (up to 75 guests seated), lower conservatory (up to 50 guests) or boathouse (only open during the summer as this is where the boats are stored over winter!).
Everything you should need is included in the hire charge and the staff are on site for set up and clean down, ensuring the most stress-free experience!
My top tip: enjoy some pimms on the deck by the river, then hire the punting boats for many laughs and gorgeous photos!

Sarah & Johny picked the perfect mix of venues. Oxford in late summer is so incredibly beautiful regardless, let alone adding a wedding in to the mix. The light in the town hall is some of the best I’ve ever seen in a ceremony venue and despite the mix of alcohol and punting boats being slightly dangerous, Cherwell Boathouse are courteous and welcoming hosts. I’m always happiest around water and to be able to document a wedding next to a Wind in the Willows-esque river was a dream.
“I just watched it. It’s so amazing, I’m away with work at the moment but just sent it to Johny. Can’t wait for him to see it. I know he’ll love it. Thank you soooo much, it’s better than I could have wished. We were supposed to wait until I got back but I told Johny yesterday that I wouldn’t be able to wait.”
