Natural light portrait photography

One of the most difficult hurdles that I felt I faced the last two years while bringing Jesse up along working full time was that I didn’t have as much time to dedicate to my natural light portrait photography work. I’ve always been fascinated by the use of available light within frames and learning to play with it just as much as the studio photographers can with their lighting kits.

My time working as a gig photographer back ten years ago in Edinburgh definitely helped me in that regard; although it was never natural, it was always working with what I had in front of me and experimenting to make the most of that.

I’m really pushing that series this year. I have so many amazing models lined up to shoot and I’m so excited to be back in the saddle on personal work yet again.

This is Lewis, all photographed in one car park in the early morning sunshine in Essex.
