Swig & Filly – The Wedding Spotlight

The Swig and Filly – The Wedding Spotlight

Happy Tuesday world! Just look at that beautiful blue bar, all set inside an old horsebox. I’m just in love with the idea of sipping a cool gin and tonic from this beautiful set up! Swig & Filly are kindly offering a 10% discount to anyone who books through this feature… take advantage of it and invite me along to enjoy. Images above by Clare Tam-Im.

First things first, could you tell us a little bit about yourself and what you do?

We are a family run business who share a passion for enhancing the experience of events through our love for quirky renovations, all starting with our horsebox bar The Swig & Filly. Whether it be a wedding, birthday, festival or corporate event, we are here to provide you with the ultimate bar experience with the finest products sourced directly from local breweries.

What inspires you to push yourself creatively or further in business?

Our passion is small businesses, we truly enjoy delivering a personable service and experience through our craft, as well as helping people to do the same through theirs.

What does your daily routine look like?

Pinterest boards and Instagram! We’re always searching for that next enhancement we can make to The Swig & Filly! We are constantly tumbling ideas back and forth on what our next project might be! Aside from the actual events, the occasional stock check and book balancing session takes place of course, but the beauty of a family business is talking things through, and we do a lot of that!

What’s your favourite memory from working in this field so far?

It’s always seeing people’s reaction to The Swig & Filly horsebox bar when they see if for the first time, watching them slowly clocking all the little details that make it what it is! No one can quite believe we can fit a fully functioning bar into a vintage horsebox! Another favourite is when beautiful couples want to feature us at their weddings – we never stop being inspired by all of the wonderful quirky ideas people come up with.

What advice would you give to couples to make the most of their wedding day?

If possible hand the tasks over to the pro’s – on your day the last thing you want to be worrying about is whether you have purchased enough ice! Whether it be the caterer or the bar or the feature set up, it’s always easier having someone else take care of these things for you. Most importantly, make sure you spend time with your partner! It sounds obvious but it’s all too easy as the day goes by so quickly…
