Tori Harris Make Up & Hair — The Wedding Spotlight
Hi all! Claudia again with this weeks spotlight feature, although I’m writing this on Friday to schedule for Monday as I’m going to be in a far off abode for Gary’s birthday on the actual Monday! Being more organised than I normally am…
Anyway, I’m sure you remember a few weeks ago we featured The Boutique; a wedding shop in Fulham which covers all manner of things wedding. Well, today we are interviewing one of the co-founders of The Boutique, Tori Harris, who is also a make up and hair stylist. Take it away Tori…
First things first, could you tell us a little bit about yourself and what you do?
I’m Tori Harris – I run The Tori Harris Pro Team/Tori Harris Makeup & Hair: an elite team of hair and makeup artists who work on weddings worldwide. I am also the co-founder of The Boutique with Vicky of Victoria Millésime. The Boutique is where all of our brides to be come for their pre-wedding hair and makeup trials – it is also a retail shopping offering everything from bridesmaids dresses to mens suit hire!
What inspires you to push yourself creatively or further in business?
I’m naturally incredibly driven. I don’t think there is necessarily anything in particularly that inspires me I am just always looking to the next step and how to build and grow my businesses. I’m not satisfied standing still!
What does your daily routine look like?
Depends on the day – most days I work out of the office at The Boutique there is a lot more admin and retail work to my business at the moment as I work on expanding the team they are taking on more and more of the weddings themselves. Tasks can vary from admin and emails to retail or planning shoots! We’re a two man band so we do everything – even the DIY, building websites and PR & marketing!
What’s your favourite memory from working in this field so far?
I have a lot! I have had a couple of pinch me moments over the years from my first wedding to the first time I was featured on a wedding blog or my first national magazine cover to working at The Queen’s Jubilee. I think probably the most exciting moment was getting the keys to The Boutique in late 2016 as I had for so long dreamed of having my own shop but that’s also the most recent so maybe just easier to remember!
What advice would you give to couples to make the most of their wedding day?
Book a professional hair and makeup artist! Obviously ;)
