Newborn Session at Home with Baby Brooks

Some sessions just feel extra special, and this one with baby Brooks, his mum Bek, dad Farrell, and their sausage dogs was exactly that.

I first met Bek through her work with Be Social East Midlands, she’s an incredible brand designer, so when she asked me to capture their newborn photos, I was absolutely thrilled. Brooks was almost a month old when I visited, which meant we got that perfect mix of sleepy snuggles and wide-eyed curiosity.

We kept everything simple and natural, just the way I love to work. I brought along my baby basket and some wraps, but the real magic came from their home. The light through the French doors in their living room was soft and golden, and their bedroom gave us another cosy spot to capture little in-between moments. And of course, their two sausage dogs had to get involved… it felt like a true family session.

Every newborn shoot is different, but that’s exactly the point. I never want families to feel like their home has to be “perfect” or their baby needs to be in a certain routine. The beauty comes from capturing your life just as it is; sleepy cuddles on the bed, dogs being nosy, tiny fingers wrapped around yours.

Sessions like this remind me why I love what I do, it’s not about picture-perfect, it’s about your people, your story, your home.
