Melbourne Derbyshire Newborn Photographer | Baby Pearl

There is something really special about photographing families in the places that mean something to them. This session was extra close to my heart; Liam, Pearl’s dad, also happens to be my eldest son’s football coach, and his fiancée Kelly is just wonderful. (She owns the brilliant Melbourne Treatment Rooms if you are ever in need of some proper self-care.)

We took baby Pearl down to Melbourne Pool, just by Melbourne Hall, for a short outdoor newborn session. It was a mini session, which can be a great option if your baby is a little older and you just want a handful of beautiful photographs without the pressure of a full-length shoot.

Why choose a newborn photographer in Melbourne Derbyshire

When families search for a newborn photographer, they often think about studio portraits with props, white backdrops, and perfectly posed babies. That’s one option, but if you live in Melbourne or anywhere in Derbyshire, you also have the chance to choose something a little more natural.

As a Derby newborn photographer, I love working outdoors as well as in your home. Melbourne Pool is the perfect spot: quiet, leafy, and with reflections on the water that change beautifully with the seasons. Photographing Pearl here felt relaxed and unhurried, and we were able to capture moments that looked and felt completely real.

Outdoor newborn sessions at Melbourne Pool

Outdoor newborn sessions work especially well if your baby is past those first few sleepy weeks. Pearl was a little older, which meant she was awake for part of the session and much more alert. Outdoors, that’s not a problem, in fact, the variety of light, textures, and surroundings gives you plenty of options.

We kept it simple, bringing along my newborn basket, and used the natural backdrop of the trees and water.

Newborn photography across Derbyshire

While this session took place at Melbourne Pool, I work with families all across Derbyshire and the surrounding areas. Whether you are based in Derby, Nottingham, Burton, or smaller villages nearby, I bring the same relaxed, natural approach.

Final thoughts

Being asked to photograph little Pearl was such a joy. Sessions like this remind me why I love being a newborn photographer in Derbyshire, it’s not about props or perfection, it’s about creating something meaningful and real for families to treasure.

If you are based in Melbourne, Derby, or anywhere nearby, and are looking for a newborn photographer who captures the little details as well as the big emotions, I would love to hear from you.
