Carousel London Wedding | Alternative Celebration
Nefeli and Dan wanted something different. They skipped the big ceremony, wore non-traditional attire, and chose a laid-back lunch at Carousel in Marylebone after a registry moment at Marylebone Town Hall. Their day was real, bright, and completely theirs.
Can you still get married at Carousel Marylebone?
Nefeli and Dan celebrated their wedding lunch at Carousel Marylebone, the original space where it all began. That location has since closed, with Carousel now based in Fitzrovia, but the vibe remains the same: creative, relaxed, and quietly brilliant.
Marylebone had this beautiful charm to it; minimalist styling, no-fuss dining, and a team that made everything run effortlessly. It was the perfect spot for the low-key celebration they wanted after their small ceremony at Marylebone Town Hall.
I’d love to photograph a wedding at Carousel Fitzrovia next
While Nefeli and Dan’s celebration was at the original Marylebone site, Carousel’s new Fitzrovia venue offers an even more versatile setup, with event spaces across three Georgian townhouses and the same relaxed, restaurant-style service. If you’re planning a wedding there, I’d love to hear about it. I already know how beautifully their approach to food, space and service works—I’d just love the chance to photograph it in their new home.
What’s special about a Carousel Fitzrovia wedding reception?
Carousel’s Fitzrovia site, spanning three Georgian townhouses on Charlotte Street, offers versatile event spaces from intimate lunches to full celebrations.
With two distinct rooms - the light-filled White Room and cozier Green Room - you’ve got flexibility for guest numbers between 30 and 100, and standing events up to 200.
What makes it practical? In-house catering, a wine bar open all day, guest chef residencies, and a team who handles flowers, AV, cocktails and food. Everything’s under one roof.
The result? A reception that feels relaxed, warm, and un-fussy.
Where did Nefeli and Dan take portraits before their reception?
We started the day in West London, meeting at Warwick Avenue before heading to Clifton Gardens, their favourite plant nursery. It was a gentle start: leafy backdrops, soft natural light, and space for Nefeli and Dan to just be together.
No studio lighting, no big entourage. Just them walking paths, sharing smiles, and stepping into portraits that felt relaxed and like them. Those images became a beautiful precursor to the day’s ease.
Can you have a small ceremony at Marylebone Town Hall?
Yes — and it’s an excellent choice if you're after something stylish, low‑fuss, and centrally located.
Marylebone Town Hall offers seven ceremony rooms tailored to intimate celebrations, from just a few guests to 100. The smallest spaces include:
Paddington Room – couple plus 8 seated guests
Marylebone Room – couple plus 12 seated guests before fireplace
Soho Room – couple plus 13 seated, relaxed vibe with sofas
They also offer medium-sized options like Knightsbridge and Mayfair (up to 30 guests), and the grand Westminster Room, which seats up to 100
Marylebone Town Hall’s A Day To Remember team ensures a seamless experience; they bring registrars, ushers, and a hint of ceremony (without ceremony-style fuss).
Once the vows were exchanged, we paused on the iconic marble steps for confetti and photos.
What was Nefeli’s non-traditional wedding look?
Graceful yet bold, Nefeli wore a striking red dress, deliberately steering away from bridal tradition. It set a friendly tone: no over-the-top formality, just colour and confidence.
Paired with Dan and a simple lunch setting, her choice mirrored the spirit of the day; a wedding that felt like them, not like a checklist.
How do Carousel Fitzrovia weddings handle catering and food?
Carousel is known for seasonally inspired small plates and sharing feasts; a format that encourages conversation and connection.
Nefeli and Dan chose a beautifully curated lunch; fresh dishes, tailor-made menus, wine pairings, and cocktails… all served with friendly staff on hand. Guests could eat, linger, and chat without feeling rushed.
It wasn’t canapés at the station or buffet chaos. It was food that felt considered, authentic, and served with a smile.
Which spaces at Carousel Fitzrovia are ideal for weddings?
Carousel offers a few different areas, depending on what you want:
White Room (60 seated / 100 standing): bright, modern, oak flooring, crittall windows, standalone bar
Green Room (30 seated): more intimate, mood-lit, ideal for smaller groups or cocktail-style gatherings
You can combine both rooms for larger parties up to 200 standing with concertina doors opening them into one space
And there’s a garden courtyard off the ground floor—great for champagne or group photos
What makes Carousel Fitzrovia great for small wedding lunches?
Straightforward setup — you arrive, walk in, eat, toast, enjoy. No transitions.
Strong sense of place — Georgian architecture, creative art, rotating chefs—it feels vibrant and urban.
Everything handled — AV, cocktails, in-house flowers, friendly staff.
Flexible servings — from plated to family-style to cocktail, easy to adapt.
Do Carousel Fitzrovia weddings feel too restaurant-y?
Not at all. Stop there. Guests always worry it’ll look like lunch at a restaurant, but it's not. There’s real wedding energy. Long lunch tables feel communal; cocktails before dinner bring sparkle; heartfelt toasts make it feel official.
For Nefeli and Dan, having family join the council-room ceremony and add friends at Carousel felt inclusive and memorable… not staged.
